Keshi’s brother and career manger Emmanuel
Ado, has confirmed his death due to a cardiac arrest. On June 7 in Benin City
in Nigeria.
The former Nigeria coach was very loved by
his fans after a successful carer both as a defender for the Nigerian national
team, and then their coach. He was also the captain of his national team back
in 1994, when they n the World Cup in the United States. He previously coached
the Togo national football team and even managed to get them qualified for
their first World Cup tournament, some amazing accomplishment!
When the Nigerian national and Fenerbahçe striker
- Emmanuel Emenike (who is currently on loan to West Ham United) found out
about Keshi’s death, he referred to him as a ‘true legend’ and added - ‘You
will forever stay in my heart the big boss RIP.’ And he is not the only one to
show his sorrow and appreciation for the late Nigerian football icon. Amaju Pinnick, who is Nigerias Football
Federation president said – ‘This is devastating. We have lost a superhero.’
It’s not only Nigerians that as expressing
their shock and disappointment towards this devastating news. Kwesi Nyantakyi,
who is the president of the Ghana Federation Football, spoke of Keshi as – ‘a
great man and a noble spirit’ and a ‘shining example of dedication to football
and to footballers.’ Also FIFA's new secretary-general Fatma Samoura, currently
head of the UN Development Programme in Nigeria, took to twitter to express her
grief: ‘The football family has lost a great member.’
So R.I.P Stephen Keshi gone but won’t be
