Manchester United have officially signed for Paul Pogba for the world-record amount of £100million!

Manchester United have officially signed for Paul Pogba for the world-record amount of £100million!

Manchester United’s José Mourinho current manager has recently experienced his interest in making sure that Pogba be a part of the Manchester united team this coming season. However, many said that the transfer might not happen because Juventus weren’t willing to give Pogba up without the right price…which they did. The previous record was of the amount of £86million and it was for the transfer of the now Real Madrid player Gareth Bale, from Tottenham Hotspurs in 2013.
The French national has officially left his former Italian team Juventus, for a five-year contract worth £210,000 a week. A deal that has discussed and agreed with between Ed Woodward (vice-chairman of Manchester United) and the Juventus directors - Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici, and of course Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola.
Mino Raiola has successfully managed to get Pogba back to his first senior team, after leaving in 2012. Though Pogba hasn’t hidden his appreciation for Manchester united as he see’s it as where his career really began, and earlier this month made reference to them by saying – ‘It was my first family.’

One of the reason for why Pogba previously left Manchester united back in 2012, was because he felt that he wasn’t allowed to play enough on the pitch, because of the manager back then, Sir Alex Ferguson. However now at the age of 23, he has succeed in having a vast growing career in both Juventus and the France national team, which is where he caught Mourinho’s attention. He also caught the attention of another famous football player, who was an Arsenal legend and fellow France national. Thierry henry was asked about Pogba during the Euros 2016 and he had nothing but praise for the fellow Frenchmen -  ‘Forget about France, I think he can be one of the best midfielders in history…He has the quality to do that.’

Portugal beat the Odds and win the UEFA Euro 2016

It didn’t seem like Portugal could possible win the UEFA Euro 2016.After coming third in the group stages and the devastating sight of seeing their star player and captain – Cristiano Ronaldo gets severally injured by the French national player – Dimitri Payet; it was starting to seem like Portugal chances of winning the game was very unlikely.

Even Ronaldo’s mother – Dolores Aveiro took to twitter to describe her outrage on what’s happened to her son.  Roughly translated she wrote – “I cannot see it this way my son. The game is to kick the ball and not hurt the opponent.”
The entire 90 minutes of the game were left without anyone from either teams, being able to score a goal and it was proving quite difficult because as the match went on both teams seemed to be working harder to get a goal in for their country. Both teams had lots to motivate them.             France where the host country and so it would be great if they could win the Cup in their homeland. But also Portugal had motivation as they were considered to be the underdogs earlier in the competition and had a history of struggles as they previously lost the UEFA Euro final to Greece, on Portuguese soil in 2004.
Since the designated time of the game was left with no one scoring, the match had to go over time and there were given another 30 minutes, where of course if no one does score, they would have to move to penalties. During that time Ronald came back onto the pitch with his friend/personal manger Ricky Regufe (who is also Portugal’s national team marketing manager ), and went to each of the players and spoke to them, seemed like he was giving them words of encouragement, as any good captain should.

In the first half of the added time there was still know goal, but Portugal proved stronger and have brought in one of their replacement players – Eder. Then finally during the second half, 18 minutes in Eder finally scored the winning goal, guaranteeing Portugal will be the winners of UEFA Euro 2016 for the first time in their countries history!

 Didier Drogba in trouble?

Didier Drogba in trouble?

The ex- Ivory Coast national and current Montreal Impact player has been accused by the media of only giving 1% of the total money that has been raised through his foundation - The Didier Drogba Foundation, to the people of Africa.  Thought he denies these allegations and when asked about these claims by Sky Sports News he said – ‘are very disrespectful and very bad for the foundation and these allegations are not right, the money hasn't been spent, yes, but what's wrong with that? The most important thing is that these are long-term projects. I'm not doing all this work just for one year or for two years’.
He goes on to claim that he has already spent £3.7million on the plans for these ongoing projects such as – ‘We have a lot of projects, we have a mobile clinic and we have done a lot of work in orphanages.’
He goes on to mention that he already sent documentation proving that these things are in working process, to UK’s – the Daily Mail, but they had ignored the information and decided to publish these accusations  so he will go forth and peruse with legal action.

The foundation is based and run in Ivory Coast and was set up in order to help with healthcare and education for the people in Africa, created in 2007 and has raise approximately £2million since. There has been many ways in which they have been able to gain this money in London, things such as celebrity fundraising, with the help of Drogba's former Chelsea team-mates Frank Lampard and John Terry, and U2's Bono, and Princess Beatrice of York.

So far the foundation has been able to build a medical clinic in the Ivory Coast economic capital - Abidjan, however they have been waiting for the government’s approval in order to get it opened, since August 2015.

The “Big Boss” Stephen Keshi dies at the age of 54

Keshi’s brother and career manger Emmanuel Ado, has confirmed his death due to a cardiac arrest. On June 7 in Benin City in Nigeria.
The former Nigeria coach was very loved by his fans after a successful carer both as a defender for the Nigerian national team, and then their coach. He was also the captain of his national team back in 1994, when they n the World Cup in the United States. He previously coached the Togo national football team and even managed to get them qualified for their first World Cup tournament, some amazing accomplishment!
When the Nigerian national and Fenerbahçe striker - Emmanuel Emenike (who is currently on loan to West Ham United) found out about Keshi’s death, he referred to him as a ‘true legend’ and added - ‘You will forever stay in my heart the big boss RIP.’ And he is not the only one to show his sorrow and appreciation for the late Nigerian football icon.  Amaju Pinnick, who is Nigerias Football Federation president said – ‘This is devastating. We have lost a superhero.’
It’s not only Nigerians that as expressing their shock and disappointment towards this devastating news. Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is the president of the Ghana Federation Football, spoke of Keshi as – ‘a great man and a noble spirit’ and a ‘shining example of dedication to football and to footballers.’ Also FIFA's new secretary-general Fatma Samoura, currently head of the UN Development Programme in Nigeria, took to twitter to express her grief: ‘The football family has lost a great member.’

So R.I.P Stephen Keshi gone but won’t be forgotten

Messi to leave FC Barcelona to play for FC Chelsea?

Messi to leave FC Barcelona to play for FC Chelsea?

It is no secret that Messi has had his trouble with the law lately and that has made the FC Barcelona officials worried that, that may cause him to leave the team and go to play for FC Chelsea. It was rumoured that Messi’s father Jorge met with Roman Abramovich (the owner of Chelsea) on his yacht, after Messi was found guilty of tax frauds.
Javier Tebas, the president of Spain’s - La Liga had this to say when asked about Messi possibly leaving- “Of course I’m afraid. The LFP (Spanish football league) doesn’t believe he’s guilty and we’re delighted to have him."

It is reported that Chelsea may even pay £100 million in order to get the Barcelona striker to make the big move. And according to different articles online, there has been confirmation that Roman Abramovich does want to make this Messi transfer happen, though it is still not sure whether Messi and his Father (who is also his manger) want to take his offer. However with La Liga and the Premier League to begin soon, we should be hearing a response soon.

Why would Lionel Messi retired from international football?

After Lionel Messi missed his penalty, therefore causing Argentina losing to Chile in the Copa America again, he decided to retire from international football. News that broke the hearts of many of his fans, especially those in Argentina, who have been imploring him to come back ever since.

There has been many claims by the media, suggesting that his decision was based on his tax fraud problems he and his father are facing back in Spain. That maybe the fact that he may possibly be facing a two years jail sentence and a total of £3millon between the two. However the Spanish law states that if a suspect had been guilty of tax fraud and it is his first offence, and was sentenced to two years in prison or less, then that person will only have to pay a fine and be subject to probation as decided by the judge....therefore it’s unlikely that Messi or his father Jorge, will face any time in prison.
Messi is not the only FC Barcelona player to have a problem with tax fraud in the recent years.  For instance a fellow Argentina player - Javier Mascherano who was the only one to eventually plead guilty to the two counts of tax frauds, and the Brazilian international player Neymar Jr were also fine by the courts in Spain due to tax fraud. To be more specific in Neymar’s case, Barcelona was accused of concealing the amount of money that was given to the football club where Neymar previously played, FC Santos. So in Neymar’s case, Barcelona were the ones to settle things in court and pay the £4.4million fine.
Neither of the above has stated that they would retire from international football, yet Messi has? It is still a mystery to many on why he has made such a harsh decision. Statements have been thrown around, that maybe Messi just  doesn’t like the fact that he is losing, since he continues to have a successful career, including winning the 2015 Ballon D’or for the 5th time, and being the first and only player of all time to do so.
For now let’s hope that time will tell us why he retired from his nations team, after just missing one penalty? And for the sake of his fans and those people of Argentina, hope he does reconsider his retirement and comes back to play with his country.
